Sandia Mountain Bear Collaborative at the Party in the Park!

The Party in the Park is an annual  event hosted by the High Desert Residential Homeowner Association.  This is the second year the SMBC has been there.  We had a table  with information packets, flyers for the 2018 Bear Fair, and of course, some bear scat!  The scat is part of our  dietary analysis of the bears in the Sandia Mountains, which science students at Sandia High School help us analyse!

  1. We had a wonderful day at High Desert Residential Homeowners Party in the Park. We arrived a little after 3 p.m. and were immediately greeted by Ray (and later his wife, Bernadette) who helped us to set up and tear down. WOW! What amazing support you two provided. We can’t thank you enough!

We met many Bear-Lovers (whooo to the hoooo!) and many people, that while somewhat intimidated by bears and cougars, were willing to learn how to keep wildlife safe! We can’t thank you enough!

We met up with Richard and Colleen, for the second time at the event, and got to talk about the progress the Collaborative is making. We loves youse twos! Thank you for your constant moral support if not physical support. You are a big part of why we do what we do!

Thank you to Clay for keeping us involved! We love supporting High Desert and look forward to a long, productive partnership to educate the public about keeping wildlife WILD!

I’ve written too long, but I am so grateful to EVERYONE who gets what we are teaching! Please join us at our annual Bear Fair, September 23, 1:00 – 4:00 at the Rio Grande Zoo. (P.S. How cool is that? The Rio Grande Zoo is one of our Partner Organizations! WOW! Amazing.)

Finally, thanks to Elaine (she made our website possible!), Janet (you are ALWAYS willing to help!), Ray and Bernadette (we can’t wait for a Team Party of the Collaborative Peeps!), Bernadette (friend of Janet and so a friend of the Collaborative!), and Clay (without you we wouldn’t have been here!)

Keep Wildlife Safe & You Alive!
